COMPANY OVERVIEW
Train to extremes in safety
BRIEF HISTORY
Established in 2017, Universal Motion Simulation (UMS) was founded to commercialise technology developed over a decade by Deakin University in collaboration with the Australian Army. This groundbreaking research laid the foundation for our flagship innovation, the Reconfigurable Driver Simulator (RDS).
OUR TECHNOLOGY
UMS’s Reconfigurable Driver Simulator (RDS) represents the next generation of driver training. Designed with a modular, future-proofed architecture, the RDS provides a fully immersive, realistic environment that enables drivers to train safely and effectively across the entire performance envelope of their vehicles—from basic skills to advanced, high-stress scenarios.
Our unique approach combines:
- Rapidly interchangeable vehicle cabins for training multiple vehicle types
- A TÜV-certified industrial robot motion platform delivering unmatched realism
- Haptically enabled, high-fidelity controls and instrumentation
- Advanced algorithms ensuring minimal simulator sickness and maximum transfer of skills
KEY MARKET
UMS is the recommended supplier of all armoured vehicle driver training simulators for the Australian Army, including the Infantry Fighting Vehicle program and beyond. We are also actively introducing our technology to armed forces worldwide, setting a new standard in driver training.
THE FUTURE
UMS remains committed to advancing the capabilities of our Reconfigurable Driver Simulator as new technologies emerge. Our dedicated research and development team continues to push the boundaries of what’s possible—because in driver training, standing still is not an option.

Every armoured vehicle is defined by the Iron Triangle — mobility, survivability, lethality. But it is the driver who holds the balance.
A skilled driver keeps the vehicle alive, puts it in position to strike, and enables the crew to fight. Without that mastery, armour becomes vulnerable, manoeuvre stalls, and firepower is wasted.
